The Power of Perseverance: My Journey to Today
I've always been a huge dreamer. I remember when I was a little girl, I would spend hours daydreaming about all the things I wanted to do when I grew up. I wanted to be a pediatrician, a computer science engineer, a business owner, and even a sex therapist! Yeah... I don't know...Let's just breeze right on past that last one...LOL. As I got older, my dreams started to become a lot more realistic, even though I do have my doctorate degree, so extending my education wasn't the issue. Medical school and in-depth levels of psychology didn't sit well in my spirit and bless the Lord, math is just a terrible part of my human experience, so those weren't going to work for me but I never lost my sense of adventure or my willingness to go after what I wanted. Starting a business was definitely what I wanted!!
One of the things that has helped me achieve my goals is my persistence. I've never been one to give up easily. When I set my mind to something, I go after it with everything I've got, like a pit bull with a juicy and nicely seasoned bone...it's all mine. This has led me to some amazing experiences and opportunities that I never would have had if I had given up when things got tough. One of the most important lessons I've learned about persistence is that it's not about being perfect. It's about never giving up, even when you make mistakes. I've made plenty of mistakes along the way, but I've never let them stop me from moving forward. I've learned that failure is just a part of the journey and that it's what makes us stronger. Baby steps will still get you where you're working to go!
Another important lesson I've learned about persistence is that it's not about being the smartest or the most talented person in the room. It's about being willing to work diligently and consistently and again, never give up on your dreams. I know you've also seen people with less talent and less education achieve great things because they were willing to put in the work and enhance their skills and they show up every time. If you're a woman who is feeling discouraged or like you're not good enough, I want to encourage you to never give up on your dreams. You are enough! Persistence is the key to success. If you keep showing up for yourself and putting in your best effort, you will eventually achieve your goals.
Here are some tips for staying persistent:
- Set realistic goals. Don't try to do too much too soon. Start with small goals that you know you can achieve, and then gradually work your way up to bigger goals.
- Break down your goals into smaller steps. This will make them seem less daunting and more achievable.
- Find a support system. Having people who believe in you and support your goals will help you stay motivated.
- Don't give up. No matter how many times you get knocked down, get back up and keep fighting. Remember, success is not about being perfect. It's about never giving up.
I believe that God has a unique purpose for each and every one of us. He created us with skills, gifts, and talents that He wants us to use to make a difference in the world. If you're feeling lost or like you're not sure what your God-designed purpose is, I encourage you to ask God to reveal it to you. He will not lead you astray.
Once you know your God-designed purpose, don't be afraid to go after it and boldly live your dreams out loud. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something. If you have a dream, go for it! Bite down on that bone and don't you let it go!. You never know what you might accomplish if you never go after it.
I believe living your dreams out loud is possible if you have faith, put in the consistent work, persist, and maintain that no retreat, no surrender spirit. So don't give up on you, don't give up on your dreams. Keep believing, keep working, and don't quit on you. You got this!
It's time to BOSS up and take your power back as you journey to empowerment and success by walking in your God-designed purpose.
